Wedding photographer in Eymet
Eymet is a 13th-century bastide on the river Dropt, in the far south of the Dordogne, with an arcaded square at its heart and vineyards on the slopes around it. Bergerac and its airport are about half an hour to the north.
Most of my weddings around Eymet have been at Château Lacanaud, five minutes outside the town. Couples there keep the whole day on the estate: a ceremony in the woods or by the pool, drinks on the lawns, dinner under a marquee, portraits by the lake and in the vines. Château Naudou and Château La Colombière, near Bergerac, are a short drive away.
The town
Arcades round the central square and old stone houses along narrow streets. It is small and quiet, good for a walk together the morning after.
Château Lacanaud
An 18th-century house of pale stone and blue shutters, with a lake, vineyards and its own woods. Guests can stay on site, so the day starts and ends in the same place.
Light
The lawns at Lacanaud are wide and open, so the evening light lasts. I plan portraits for about 40 minutes before sunset, when the lake throws a little glow back onto faces.
Getting there
Bergerac airport is about half an hour away by car, and Bordeaux about an hour and a half.
