Pre-wedding in Hallstatt
Pre-wedding session in Hallstatt, Austria
Couples often ask me what we will do if it rains. We take an umbrella and make the most romantic session we can, and this pre-wedding session in Hallstatt, Austria, is my answer.
The rain and low cloud turned the lake and the mountains soft and grey. The couple, in a white dress, a lace veil and a cream suit, walked with me along the lakefront, up around the church, through the lanes and the square, and back down to the water.

The lakefront
It rained, and low cloud sat on the mountains across the lake. We took a clear umbrella and walked the lakefront: the green railing, the wet street, the old boathouses. Her lace veil, his cream suit and the grey water gave us the softest colours of the day.

Around the church
Up by the white church the village is all steep lanes and spires. We found narrow streets between pink and red houses, a blossom tree that had dropped its petals all over the grass, and a wall above the rooftops with the church and the lake behind.

What couples say
“Dina was our Photographer in June '25 in the Dordogne, and she was amazing. So easy to meet her online, organise all of the details easily, and then send her photos we wanted in preparation. She also worked really well with our videographer, and made sure we got every photo we needed. Highly recommend!!”

Lanes and the square
Hallstatt is full of small corners if you look for them: a stone staircase under an old tower, a dark passage with light at the far end, a white archway, and the square with its painted houses, where they danced in the rain.

Back to the water
We finished where we began, by the lake. The cloud was still on the mountains, a narrow jetty ran out over the water, and a bench at the edge gave them a place to sit close and look across to the village.

Questions
How far ahead should we book?
Most couples book six to eighteen months ahead. Summer Saturdays go first.
