Wedding venues in Dordogne, France

The Dordogne region is a beautiful part of France and it’s home to some of the most breathtaking wedding locations. There are plenty of great options for both ceremony and reception venues. This is mainly due to its natural beauty and rich history, as well as its proximity to other popular wedding destinations such as Bordeaux and Paris.

In this article, I will be talking about some of the popular wedding venues in Dordogne.

List of my favourite Chateau in Dordogne

1. Chateau De Lacoste

Chateau De Lacoste is an elegant venue for your special day. The chateau is located in the countryside of France and it offers a very romantic setting for your special day. You can choose from different locations on the property for your ceremony and reception. There are also several on-site vendors who will provide catering, flowers, and entertainment services if needed.

I took a lot of beautiful photos of a wedding at this chateau in fall 2019. The weather was great, with warm and sunny days mixed with some overcast. The bride started her day at the chateau and they had their ceremony in the church at the backyard.

You can see full wedding story at this chateau here.

2.Chateau Lacanaud – one of the best Dordogne wedding venues

The chateau is an amazing venue with a beautiful garden, swimming pool and outdoor ceremony site. The interior of the chateau is also well-decorated and has a romantic feel to it. Weddings at the Château Lacanaud are always special and unforgettable.

I have been booked as a photographer at this chateau for the 2023 and it will be so exciting to visit it.

Getting married in Dordogne

If you are looking to get married in France, there are a few considerations that you should keep in mind. One of the first things to consider is the type of ceremony that you would like to have. There are three types of ceremonies: civil, religious and symbolic. Civil and religious ceremonies require an officiant which can be either a priest or a government official. Symbolic ceremonies do not require an officiant and these can take place anywhere, including outside on the beach or in your home.

Secondly, there is the matter of the venue for your wedding ceremony and reception. Some popular venues include castles, gardens, vineyards or even chateau! If you want a more intimate setting for your wedding day then consider getting married at home- it’s easy to decorate with flowers!
